When a family tradition meets an unexpected guest
Three generations of women gather to host Greek Easter: Eleftheria, her mother Athina and her grandmother Iri. The carefully prepared family lunch begins to shift when Eleftheria arrives with her boyfriend, Nikau.
As the day unfolds and secrets surface, the family's expectations collide with Eleftheria's need for independence. The result is a dramatic comedy about the chaos, pressure and fierce affection that can exist around the same table.

02 / The approach
A specific cultural world, built around a universal tension
Writer and director Eleni Atzemis drew on her Greek-Australian upbringing to tell the story through a female and Australian lens. Greek Easter becomes more than a setting: its rituals, food and red eggs hold the film's ideas about family, sacrifice, anger, love and renewal.
Blue Dot produced the film around an emerging director's distinct voice, bringing the creative and technical team together while protecting the intimacy of the family story. The production uses warmth, humour and escalating tension to let cultural detail and character carry the film together.
03 / The outcome
A first narrative short with a clear point of view
Completed in 2026, Kokkino is Eleni Atzemis's first narrative short film. It brings three generations of women into one lived-in family space and allows love, silence, tradition and independence to compete without reducing the family to a simple conflict.
For Blue Dot, the project demonstrates the production model at the centre of the company: an author-led story, a carefully assembled team and professional production thinking shaped to the scale the film actually needs.
Kokkino has been selected by the Hearts of Gold International Film Festival and is scheduled to screen on 19 September 2026.
