In April 2023 Byron Wylder traveled to Rwanda (as part of my his work with St Remio Coffee via Lumapixel) to document the incredible coffee farming co-operative of Cocagi and the work over 125 million people worldwide undertake to bring us our daily coffee. The Real Cost of Coffee is a documentary that delves into the unsustainable model of current coffee production and the significant challenges faced by farmers. The film highlights issues such as financial inequality, lack of agronomic training, and the impacts of climate change, aiming to shift the conversation from coffee as a commodity to a community-driven perspective.
